ROLE SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Key Stage 5 to join King’s InterHigh, Inspired Online Schools, a part of Inspired Education Group. This role is completely remote where you will be working from home on a full-time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a highly competitive salary of up to £75,000 per annum dependent on experience. In addition, you will be entitled to participate in a bonus scheme based upon individual and company performance.

We are looking for a Head of Key Stage 5 to join the team and work alongside our other 3 Heads of Key Stages within the Education Leadership team. The successful candidate will have joint responsibility, with the Executive Head, for the academic progress and pastoral care of all students in addition to the retention and growing enrolment of students in Key Stage 5. You will also be accountable to the Executive Head for ensuring the success of Key Stage 5, and the whole school, in both academic and non-academic terms. You will directly line-manage a range of senior leaders as directed by the Executive Head.

Salary: £60,000 to £75,000k per annum

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Strategic direction and development - Support the vision, ethos and policies of the school, and of the Inspired Group, and promote the highest levels of achievement and attainment, particularly at this Key Stage.

•   Leadership - Develop and maintain a culture of high expectations for self and others, particularly at this Key Stage.

•   Marketing and enrolment - To promote and support the marketing of the school, and this key stage in particular, to support maximum future enrolment into the school. 

•   Pastoral care - Act as the Key Stage Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Safeguarding of Children 

•   Teaching and learning - Monitor, evaluate and review classroom practice using fit-for-purpose quality assurance methods; celebrate and promote excellence; challenge under-performance at all levels, both in students and staff, and ensure appropriate action is taken at an early stage. 

•   Curriculum Development - Work with the Head of Educational Technology and wider learning development team to ensure curriculum development across the Key stage is continually updated, innovative and engaging. Ensure that an appropriate curriculum across the Key Stage is developed, maintained and followed – a curriculum that builds on prior learning and supports future pathways as a spiral curriculum. 

•   Management - Ensure all school resources are managed strictly within allocated budgets; actively seek opportunities for efficiencies and ensure that value for money is at the core of all financial activities. Effectively line manage your team and monitor staff absence and performance. 

•   External links - Maintain effective relationships with parents and other members of the community, both to ensure an excellent reputation for the school and to develop a partnership with them. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Capability to work effectively in dynamic and changing environments
  • Experience of working in the secondary or college sector
  • Experience of dealing with UCAS application process
  • Experience of working in state or independent school sector
  • Experience and knowledge of the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme is desirable
  • Observable evidence of success in delivering organisation-wide contexts
  • Expertise and experience of working across the education system in the UK, have knowledge of leading change in a large school
  • Capability of leading teachers, role modelling best practices and with a reputation for delivering high quality improvements
  • Senior educational experience with evidence of delivering sustainable quality improvements
  • Ability to motivate and manage a team, while having the courage to make difficult decisions
  • Strong business awareness and the ability to focus on setting and meeting demanding targets
  • A flexible, highly energetic approach
  • Considerable interpersonal communication skills

Inspired Online Schools use state-of-the-art digital technology and operates two established divisions – King's InterHigh, a non-selective fee-paying online secondary school, established in 2005 and a B2B division including Academy 21, serving other educational providers, schools, local authorities and other public bodies.

The successful candidates will demonstrate expertise and experience of delivering their subject specialism/s and come from either a state school and/or independent school background. Passionate about ensuring the students are at the centre of learning, the successful candidate will be used to deadlines, have experience of creating effective learning resources and having a key focus on the academic monitoring and progress of the students.

About our Roles

Here at InterHigh and Academy21, our Leaders of Learning (Teacher) contracts do differ from mainstream schools due to the nature of our business and ways of operating. As a Leader of Learning (Teacher) you will be contracted to 42 weeks of the year, up to 38 of these weeks are contact weeks with the students, with the remaining weeks being available for additional activity such as course writing.

You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. During the school day there are allocated breaks in the morning, lunch time and in the afternoon, with breaks in between each lesson also.

Our lessons are 40 minutes long which ensures the time spent in the classroom is value added and effective. A full time Leader of Learning could be given a timetable with up to 33 lessons, equating to 22 hours of contact time.

As a business and a school, we do not follow the Teachers Mainstream Payscale, we operate in line with our own salary bandings. Further information specifically for each role will be available via the job adverts.
