Due to the promotion of the current postholder, we are seeking to appoint a talented, dynamic and inspirational Headteacher to lead Blue Coat CE Secondary school from September 2024 at the earliest.

About the school

Blue Coat is a successful and oversubscribed school with 1700+ pupils in the heart of the city of Coventry. As a Church of England school our intake draws from both the local area and across the city and surrounding areas. Consequently, we have a diverse intake and a culturally thriving school. The school was graded 'Outstanding' in its SIAMS inspection and 'Good' by Ofsted in May 2023 and continues to perform exceptionally well academically. In 2023 our Attainment 8 at GCSE was 52.3 and our Progress 8 score was +0.42 both of which are above national average.

We have a large and successful Post 16 provision with 350 pupils on average studying either A levels or Vocational Level 3 courses. We have excellent rates of progression to universities, apprenticeships and employment.

During our inspection we were judged Outstanding for Personal Development, The Sixth Form and Leadership and Management. Ofsted said:

·        Leaders and teachers share a moral purpose.

·        There is a cohesive and vibrant school community.

·        Leaders have built an inclusive community. Staff are very proud to work at the school.

·        Staff feel very well supported by leaders and greatly value the training they receive to continually improve their work.      

 

About you

The person appointed to the post will need to be able to lead on the following:

·        Embrace the deeply rooted vision and values of the school and actively promote the ethos of this Christian school which serves a multi-faith, multi-ethnic community;

·        Create a high performing working culture for all staff that promotes collaboration, aspiration and support;

·        Bring exceptional expertise in all matters relating to a high quality and inclusive education including being a strong practitioner themselves and fully capable of impacting widely on the practice of others;

·        Demonstrate a proven track record of whole school improvement;

·        Represent the school appropriately to a range of audiences including but not limited to: the Coventry Diocese, regulatory bodies, governors and the local community;

·        Complement the talented senior leadership team but also add challenge and new ideas;

·        Commit to supporting the wider system in sharing best practice, providing school to school support where appropriate and contributing to strategic development of the Trust.
