Job overview

The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School is looking for self-employed instrumental teachers to deliver peripatetic music lessons to our pupils as from May 2024. The particular focus will be teaching string instruments.


Responsibilities include: 

  • Working alongside a newly-appointed head of department to raise the profile of Music at Wiseman School 
  • Delivering one-to-one instrumental lessons to students from all year groups 
  • Preparing students for graded instrumental examinations 
  • Preparing GCSE students for completion of coursework performance 
  • May include in the future, further opportunities to lead ensemble activities


Applicants should be able to demonstrate: 

  • A high level of expertise on their specialism
  • Experience delivering one-to-one specialism to school age (11-18). This will be tested before appointment. 
  • Experience of working as part of a team within educational institutions 
  • Familiarity with the performance requirements of GCSE
