Classroom assistant pierces world record for loudest scream

Article | Published in TES Newspaper on 27 October, 2000

A TEACHING assistant proved why she's so effective in the classroom this week when she broke the world record for the loudest scream.

Jill Drake, 48, let out her amazing yell of 129 decibels - one higher than the previous record - while taking pat in a competition at the Millennium Dome as part of the Greenwich attraction's half-term activities.

When told she was officially the loudest person in the world, Jill, of Tenterden, Kent, said: "I knew I was loud, but not that loud."

  • Common guys, this I good opportunity for math... What's is a one db gain? 10 to the power of 0.1 = 1.26 or 26% louder than the second loudest person on earth.
