I have been teaching since 1994. I was joint Head of History at St Cuthbert Mayne 11-18 secondary school until 2003. I now work at The Park School in Barnstaple (11-16), where I am Head of History. I love my job....but it's tiring!

I live and teach in Lincolnshire and am in my 8th year of teaching. My specialist subject is History but I have taught Geography, RS, Citizenship and Sociology. My favourite period of history is 20th Century particularly Russia and the Cold War.

I've been teaching in London since 2002. I have played a pivotal role in leading INSET at Academy Federation conferences and been filmed by the Historical Association to showcase history teaching in academies. In July I was asked to sit on the panel at the latest History Association conference on the future of History.

I've been teaching for about 10 years and am currently Head of History at Derby High School. I'm also Assistant Director of Studies, with responsibility for designing and implementing the whole school Thinking for Learning program.
