Topical teaching resources for May

With just a hint of warmer weather, May marks the start of summer, sun… and exam season. As well as being dedicated to local and community history, May also plays host to several important events, including Christian Aid Week and Walk to School Week. We’ve put together all the free teaching resources, lesson plans and revision activities you’ll need to power your way through May.

Christian Aid Week (15-21) Christian Aid Week focuses on helping the growing number of people around the world whose lives have been torn apart by war, famine and natural disasters.

Local and Community History Throughout May, explore the history of your local area through visits, exhibitions and community testaments, raising awareness of people, places and events of the past.

Walk to School Week (16-20) Say goodbye to traffic jams, arriving late and parking stress this Walk to School Week and use our hand-picked resources to help encourage a generation of perfect pedestrians.

KS2 SATs The KS2 SATs tests will take place on 9-13 May. Prepare your pupils with this collection of hand-picked past papers and revision resources.

Phonics The phonics screening check commences on the week beginning 13 June. Prepare your pupils with these popular phonics resources.
