What is a binder?

A binder is the place you can organise your teaching files into any order you choose. You can put your files into different sections, and add descriptions, and put them in any order you choose, and then share the binder with your colleagues or friends.

There is a binder already in my binders panel, what is this?

We’ve included a binder full of free resources from the TESpro magazine as part of your subscription. This binder includes some of the best content from the TESpro magazine archives. It also shows you what a binder full of resources looks like, just in case you’re new to this idea.

You also get free access to every issue of TESpro magazine and its complete archive. Just click on the square arrow icon at the top of your storage area to access the TESpro page-turner.

How do I open a binder?

To open a binder, simply click on the binder name or icon once.

Be sure to click the actual name, which will turn blue when you hover over it, or click on the binder icon, as if you click on the space around it, these, you will actually select the binder and you will need to click the blue ‘open’ button at the top of the panel.

Double clicking will not work.

How do I create a new binder?

Simply click on the box titled ‘Create New Binder’ at the top of the binder’s panel and you will be taken to an empty binder panel. To find out more click here.

How many binders can I have?

Currently there is a limit of 100 binders.

Are the default TES binders using up my storage allowance?

No.

How do I add files to an existing binder?

Open the binder you want to add your files to by clicking on the binder name or icon. Go to the storage panel and select the files you wish to add to that binder. Then simply drag and drop the files directly into the section you want them to go in. You can also create a new section for those files by dragging them into the ‘Add New Section’ box at the bottom of the binder’s panel.

You cannot add a folder to a binder, but you can select files within a folder and add them to your binder.

Can I add a file directly from my computer into a binder?

No. You must add files to your storage first before adding them to a binder.

Can I drag files straight from my storage and create a new binder with them?

Yes. Simply select the files you wish to add, then drag and drop them into the ‘Create New Binder’ box at the top of the binders panel. This will create a new binder, containing your dropped files in the first section.

How many files can I have in each binder?

Each binder can contain a maximum of 300 files.

How do I change the binder icon?

Open the binder by clicking on the binder’s name or icon, then click on the binder icon again to change it. You can select one of the alternate binder icons in the carousel, or drag and drop your own image to the ‘upload image’ box. Alternately, you can click on the ‘Upload Image’ box and follow your browser’s prompts to select a file to upload.

How do I download a binder?

Simply select the binder you wish to download and click on the blue 'Download' button at the top of the panel. Your binder will download to your computer as a zipped file. When you unzip this file you will see the contents of your binder in a folder structure that reflects your binder. To find out more click here.

If you cannot see the ‘Download’ button, just expand the width of the binder’s panel and the button will appear.

Please note that if you download a binder, it will not currently download the descriptions you may have added to the binder or the files within the binder.

How do I delete a binder?

Simply select the binder you wish to delete and click on the blue 'Delete' button at the top of the panel. A notification message will pop down from the top of your drawer to check that you want to delete the binder you have selected. This message will notify you if the binder you want to delete is attached to any calendar events, from which it will be removed. Just click the blue ‘Yes’ button in the notification box and your binder will be deleted.

If you cannot see the ‘Delete’ button, just expand the width of the binder’s panel and the button will appear.

Please note that if you delete a binder, it will not delete those files from your storage, but it will remove the files from any binders you have shared.

If I delete a binder, will it delete the files from my storage?

No. The files are still available in your storage, although if you added a description to your binder or any of the files inside the binder, these description notes will be deleted with the binder.

How do I rename a binder?

Open the binder you want to rename by clicking on the binders name or icon. Then click on the binder name to edit it, type in a new name and press enter.

Can I sort the binders into any order?

You can sort binders by name, date and number of files. Just use the filters on the right at the top of the panel to sort your binders.

If you cannot see the filter options, just expand the width of the binder’s panel and the filters will appear.

How do I see the blue action buttons after I have selected a binder?

You can expand the width of the binders panel by clicking on the title of the panel.

In some cases you are required to complete a task by clicking the blue ‘close’ button in another panel, before you can fully expand the binders panel.

How do I rename a file or folder?

Simply select the file or folder you want to rename and click on the blue 'Rename' button at the top of the panel. Then just type in your new name and press enter.

If you cannot see the 'Rename' button, just expand the width of the storage panel and the button will appear.

How do I re-order files within a binder?

Simply select the file you want to move, then drag and drop that file to the desired location. You can drop the file to a new position within the current section, to another section, or to a new section.

How do I open a section?

To open a section, simply click on the blue ‘>’ to the right of the section title.

How do I create a new section?

Simply open the binder by clicking on the binders name or icon. Then click on the box titled ‘Add New Section’ at the bottom of your binder.

How many sections can I create within a binder?

Each binder can contain a maximum of 300 sections.

How do I re-order sections within a binder?

Just select the section you want to move, then drag and drop that section to the desired location.

Can I move files or sections between binders?

Not at the moment, however, you can duplicate a binder, and then edit that binder as you choose.

How do I delete section?

Simply click on the blue ‘X’ button in the header of the section you want to delete.

You must always have one section in a binder.

How do I rename a section?

Click on the section name to edit it, type in a new name and press enter.

If I update a file in my storage, will it automatically update that file within a binder?

Yes.

If I delete a file from my storage, will it automatically remove that file from the binder it is in?

Yes.

When you delete the file from your storage area, a notification message will appear in the top of your drawer to inform you that the file is inside a binder. This will give you the option to cancel the delete action.
