Reporting to: Performing Arts Studies Coordinator, Head of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum


As part of the exciting expansion of the highly regarded Performing Arts Department St Pius X College, Chatswood is seeking to appoint an energetic and dynamic Drama Teacher Years 5 – 12. The teacher will be suitably qualified and enjoy working in a vibrant and cohesive team. Involvement in the cocurricular life of the College is an essential condition of employment and is appropriately remunerated.


The successful applicant will:


  • Demonstrate a clear understanding and commitment to the Mission of the Catholic School;
  • Be supportive of the Edmund Rice ethos of the College;
  • Be characterised by a high standard of competency, professionalism, organisational proficiency and enthusiasm;
  • Have an ability to relate to boys and a practical knowledge of boys’ education issues and initiatives;
  • In consultation with the Performing Arts Studies Coordinator write dynamic programs and assessment tasks, which accurately reflect syllabus outcomes;
  • Keep accurate records of marks and reporting of student progress;
  • Contribute to the on-going development of shared Department resources to enhance learning outcomes;
  • Assist with the planning, organization and supervision of students at Performing Arts activities and events throughout the year;
  • Actively promote and support both the classroom and cocurricular Performing Arts program, through encouraging student participation and involvement
  • Develop and implement Drama related activities within the College’s cocurricular Performing Arts program;
  • Promote a harmonious working environment, through collaboration with both classroom colleagues and Performing Arts peripatetic staff;
  • Undertake other duties as determined by the Principal and Performing Arts Studies Coordinator.
