Operating since 1949, Carinity employs over 1,000 staff, making a real difference in people’s lives through comprehensive and integrated community services including aged care, education, counselling, accommodation for homeless youth, and disability services. 


About the Role 


Carinity operates two schools for grades 7 -12 catering for students from marginalised and disadvantaged backgrounds. Reporting to the CEO, the position is responsible for achieving the expansion of Carinity Education in line with the Strategic Plan. Establishing new schools is a key role of this position along with providing effective leadership and mentoring for school Principals and ensuring effective staff structures, systems, processes and curriculum are in place to deliver positive educational outcomes for students.


As a member of the executive team you will be supported in this role through the organisations, Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, ICT and Business units to deliver Carinity’s educational services.


The role is a full time position, based at Carinity’s Head Office in Gaythorne. Approximately 15 minutes from Brisbane’s CBD.

  • Ability to work within the Christian ethos and framework of Carinity


Significant and successful leadership experience in a Secondary Educational environment with a minimum of 7 years at Principal level preferred.


Post Graduate qualifications in Education and/or Educational Leadership with studies in Business Management highly regarded.


Demonstrated knowledge of governance requirements with respect to legislation and governments (State and Federal), and the new funding legislation (Australian Education Bill 2012) is preferred.


An interest in and knowledge of educational challenges facing disenfranchised young people and the innovative methods needed to help them achieve academic and life skill outcomes.


Demonstrated experience in negotiating with Employees, Government, and Community Groups.


Demonstrated ability to effectively manage human, financial and physical resources to deliver high quality organisational and educational outcomes.


Ability to maintain and promote a culture consistent with Carinity’s Mission, Vision and Values.
