This is a significant leadership role for someone wishing to undertake a whole school position. It would be a great next step in a career for those currently in year level or subject coordinating role. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • oversee the curriculum, teaching and learning of Mathematics in the School
  • be an exemplary, innovative and stimulating teacher and mentor within the classroom
  • Contribute to the development and continued enhancement of the School’s broader curriculum.
  • lead continual improvement and systematic evaluation of Mathematics teaching practices
  • lead the use of technology in the teaching and learning of Mathematics
  • be a dynamic and motivating leader of a team of talented and committed Mathematics staff
  • be responsible for the leadership and administration of the Mathematics Department, including the budget
  • establish clear and effective communication within the Mathematics faculty and collaborate effectively with other areas of the School
  • Liaise with other Faculty Heads through the Director of Learning and Teaching to identify opportunities for the articulation of courses of study.
  • Liaise with the Director of Learning and Teaching to identify opportunities for the differentiation of programs to cater for individual differences of students.
  • prepare detailed budgetary recommendations
  • supervise staff teaching in the faculty
  • provide encouragement and support where practice suggests modification would be advantageous

 

Skills and Experience Required:

 

  • High level communication & interpersonal skills
  • Extensive subject knowledge in Mathematics
  • Experience in a leadership role such as Year Level or Subject Coordinator
  • Ability to coordinate staff and resources for excellence in teaching and learning and curriculum development
  • Commitment to excellence in education
  • Competent in the use of ICT
