Carey Baptist Grammar School in Victoria 


Carey is looking for a motivated and innovative Head of Football to commence in this fixed-term part-time position (0.3 FTE), commencing in Term 1 2014. Based on skills and qualifications, consideration will be given to either a part-time Head of Football or a full time role with a 0.7 FTE teaching component


Campus: Kew and Bulleen


The Head of Football will provide leadership and coaching for football at Carey. The Head of Football is responsible for initiating the development and implementation of the Carey football program.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • To recruit and appoint coaches into the Carey football program
  • Devising, implementing and delivering suitable training programmes, skill development/game tactics for students across all year levels
  • Facilitate and coordinate professional development for coaches
  • Assist the Carey Strength and Conditioning (S & C) Coach with football S & C programs
  • Be responsible for talent identification in and outside of Carey Baptist Grammar School
  • Administer the annual sport budget, for the purposes of maintaining and developing/purchasing of sport equipment/facilities, staffing of external umpires and coaches.
  • Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with sporting bodies and parent support groups
  • Be responsible for the nomination/selection of students for insignias and colours in consultation with the 1st XVIII coach
  • Collate sports reports from coaches for the Head of Sport
  • Contribute to the promotion of football through various activities including assemblies and Carey publications
  • Participate in pre and in season meetings, training sessions (senior and middle school) and matches across all levels
  • Attend and coordinate clinics/camps, the development of squads/tours, football functions as required
  • Attend APS/AGSV fixture meetings and liaise with the Facilities and Programs Manager
  • Ensure that uniform and general appearance requirements of students and coaches are meticulously attended to as part of the Carey sporting program


Knowledge and Skills

  • Current coaching certificate
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the game of football
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience working in the area of talented player/coach development
  • Experience in the establishment of ongoing management of coach/athlete development programs
  • High level communication skills
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills
