Head of Hospitality

Oversee the teaching and curriculum in the department

 

  • Oversee the teachers in each subject area within the department, be aware particularly of any changes to the stated curriculum
  • Oversee the planning of each teacher within the department
  • Be familiar with what each teacher is teaching within department
  • Approve the assessment items of each subject in the department before it is distributed to students
  • Lead pedagogical discussions in the faculty
  • Conduct regular faculty meetings
  • Coordinate the production of curriculum documents within the department
  • Lead curriculum design and thinking
  • Mentor teachers who are new to the department
  • Assist with inductions specific to departments
  • Approve any departmental changes in textbook and other curriculum changes before going to HOS
  • Delegate staff roles in preparation for subject selection evenings, information evenings etc that have not been specifically identified by HOS or Principal
  • Ensure the curriculum in each subject is of a high quality and in keeping with the College ethos
  • Approve extraordinary events such as excursions, incursions etc.
  • Promote collegial atmosphere to the department
  • Attend to any necessary paperwork
  • Oversee each departmental budget
  • Keep records of each subject’s expenditure
  • Receive monthly budget statements for each subject area
  • Approve purchase orders before they are submitted to ensure purchase is valid and in keeping with the approved curriculum
  • Approve the budget proposals of each department
  • Ensure kitchens and work areas are kept clean and hygenic in accordance with compliance standards.
  • Organise Hospitality events for student assessments

 

Events should include but are not limited to:

 

  • Light refreshments during annual Open Day
  • Morning tea for Grandparents’ Day
  • Lunch for annual Volunteers’ Celebration
  • Important meetings when it fits in with the Hospitality curriculum and student assessment needs
  • Participate in Head of Department meetings

 

KLA Departments: Math, Science, Technology, PE

KLA Departments: English, Humanities, Arts, LOTE
