Overall Purpose of the Position


The Human Resources Consultant – South (Grafton to Laurieton) provides generalist Human Resources information, advice, support and guidance to Parish School Communities and other CSO staff.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities


  • Provide information and advice to Parish Priests, Principals, teachers and ancillary staff on enterprise agreement matters.
  • Provide assistance and where applicable be involved in the implementation of the Diocesan Employee Performance and Disciplinary Procedures.
  • In conjunction with the Human Resources Consultant support schools with the management of child protection statutory obligations including investigations and reporting.
  • Support Principals with difficult Family Law matters and parental complaints matters in consultation with the Assistant Director – School Resources Services.
  • Support the Human Resources Consultant in the management of Full Fee Paying Overseas students as required (CRICOS).
  • Manage staff leave issues ensuring administrative follow up with Principals.
  • Support Principals in the management of casual staff appointments in consultation with the school Education Consultant.
  • Support Principals and school staff with goal setting processes.
  • Assist Principals with using the ConnX leave and data management system.
  • Support schools in the governance of staffing allocations.
  • Support the development of Work Health & Safety plans in schools.
  • Effectively undertake the on-going review, development and implementation of appropriate Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Assistant Director School Resources Services with the development and implementation of appropriate Human Resources policies, procedures and guidelines for the Diocesan School System and the Catholic Schools Office.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Catholic Schools or Assistant Directors that are within the job holder’s skill, competence and training.
