Job Overview

Scotch College has a full-time position becoming available for a qualified and experienced Middle School Teacher. Preference will be given to teachers with strong experience in teaching English or Mathematics with good cross curricula knowledge in both Science and SOSE.

 

The Scotch College Middle School is currently Years 6 and 7; however with new infrastructure in progress by 2015 we will also include Year 8 students.

 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for working with boys between 11 and 14 years of age, possess a proven willingness to work and contribute in a collaborative planning environment and have the desire to be involved in the learning environment and the College community. Experience with the International Baccalaureate

 

Curriculum is desirable, although not essential.

 

The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence of current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia and a valid Working with Children clearance.

 

Scotch College has a commitment to excellence in its academic programme so as to prepare its students in the best possible way for the future. In order to achieve this, the School offers the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate from Years 1 to 5 and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) from Year 6 to 10. From October 2009 Scotch has also offered the IB Diploma for Years 11 and 12. This curriculum initiative provides exciting and innovative challenges for the teaching and learning programmes of the school. The IB program gives equal standing to all curriculum areas, so that students moving through the School will not only have the best in a comprehensive education but also the opportunity to develop excellence.

 

Similarly, Scotch College is committed to the careers of its staff. The opportunity to work in the International Baccalaureate programme makes Scotch staff employable all around the world. An Enhancing Classroom Programme (developed through a Joint Venture with the University of Western Australia) is offered to assist teachers to further develop their classroom skills and teaching repertoire. A cutting edge IT system has been introduced to ensure teachers have the latest technology at their disposal for the development and presentation of innovative teaching methods. An extensive co-curricular programme assists teachers build relationships with their peers, students and their families outside the classroom. The course management structure gives staff the opportunity to gain experience in managing and coordinating curriculum areas and the pastoral care process allows all staff to actively engage with boys and their parents.

 

Through the Staff Association, Scotch College staff have opportunities to socialise and interact with other staff and their families, making this an enjoyable team of which to be a part.
