Mt Hira College is an independent, co-educational school located in the south-eastern suburb of Keysborough.  The College is a Preparatory to Year 12 College which caters for students from diverse backgrounds.  We offer students every opportunity to grow through a varied and exciting range of opportunities and the school aims to employ staff of outstanding quality, committed to supporting exemplary student outcomes.


A position has become available in the primary school for a full-time Language (Arabic) teacher commencing in Term 1, 2014. The applicant must be enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and demonstrate a genuine care for students.  The successful applicant will possess the relevant qualifications for the position and be currently registered with the VIT.


All members of staff at the school are expected to be competent in the use of technology in the classroom, active in the pastoral management of students, supportive of the school’s philosophy and able to contribute to the sporting and wider co-curricular program.


Job Requirements:


  • Essential Criteria for Classroom Teacher Positions
  • A familiarity with the VELS/National Curriculum and current assessment practices
  • Demonstrate excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Demonstrated capacity in effective classroom management
  • Commitment to operate in Professional Learning Teams as a collaborative and team-oriented person in a professional work environment
  • Capacity and willingness to differentiate instructional approaches and materials for mixed ability classes
  • Assist with the development and sharing of teaching materials
  • Participate in the school’s professional development activities in and out of school hours
  • Undertake formal pastoral and administrative duties associated with the role of Form Teacher as required
  • Participate in the school’s sporting and other co-curricular programs
  • A willingness to assist students with the language needs of other subjects
  • Other duties as may be specified by the Principal
