The Primary Teacher is a role encompassing responsibility for the curriculum of students from Kindergarten to Year 6, with links to students from Year 7 to 12,

and maintaining a teaching role.

 

Key Roles

This teaching position will include the following:

  • Promoting the Christian ethos and culture of the College within the Anglican tradition;
  • Teaching in accordance with the position;
  • Fulfilling a Pastoral Care role; and
  • Participating in Co-curricular activities.

 

Role Descriptors

  • Carry out teaching duties as negotiated with the Head of the relevant Learning Area;
  • Work co-operatively as part of a team in programming, assessing, registration and reporting;
  • Use a variety of strategies to engage students;
  • Provide sound, strong and consistent classroom discipline;
  • Carry out efficiently all administrative duties associated with the role;
  • Provide appropriate homework, correction, assessment and reporting.
  • Enforce College rules and policies;
  • Attend student reviews and Parent Teacher Evenings;
  • Attend regular meetings at both Department and whole College level;
  • Contribute to the Co-curricular life at the College;
  • Contribute to the College Pastoral program.

 

Selection Criteria

  • A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline and a teaching qualification are essential;
  • A working knowledge of current curriculum development within the Area of teaching;
  • A demonstrated record of achievement in education and a commitment to the education and wellbeing of young people;
  • High standard of organisational and time management skills;
  • A passion for teaching within a school environment;
  • Pedagogical proficiency and motivational classroom practices; and
  • The ability to work cooperatively within a team context.
