About Aspect: Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) has grown to become the world’s largest educational program for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with 8 independent schools operating from 50 locations across NSW and catering to close to 1,000 students.


About the role: You will lead a skilled, professional team to achieve positive outcomes for children with autism by working collaboratively with families, specialist staff in Aspect and other education service providers.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide key strategic leadership for multi-site school community centred on building trust amongst students, parents, teachers & the wider school community
  • Lead professional team & contribute to professional growth & development of Aspect’s education services
  • Manage & develop team of Coordinators, Teachers, Teacher’s Aides & Health Professionals (Psychologist, Speech Pathologist & OT) & volunteers
  • Implement school’s Business Plan & achieve KPIs
  • Work with Aspect Fundraising & Parents & Friends group
  • Delivery of quality teaching & learning programs complying with relevant legislation
  • Promote school & needs of people with an ASD with government, other service providers & wider community


Skills, experience & qualifications:


  • Recognised tertiary teacher qualifications with ability to be registered with NSW Institute of Teachers
  • Special Education, Educational Management or disability qualifications desirable
  • Professional experience working with students with an ASD or intellectual disability
  • Experience in successfully managing teams in the education sector including multidisciplinary teams (special education services preferred).
  • Proven ability working with government & corporate sector to secure funding
  • Proven ability to financially manage a school
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Demonstrate the 5 principles of professional practise set out in the Australian Professional Standards for Principals:
  • NSW driver’s license & use of own car
