Alyangula Early Childhood Centre is located on Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Alyangula Early Childhood Centre is a 40 place centre servicing the mining town of Alyangula. Exciting full-time opportunities exist for passionate, enthusiastic and adventurous educators to join our team.


Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be required to work closely with the Director and other educators to develop programs that meet the needs, strengths and interests of children in care.


The Candidate will be required to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as a member of a small close-knit team. Applicants who have an understanding and ability to cope with the complexities of working in a remote location and who have a desire to be challenged both personally and professionally are encouraged to apply. We are seeking individuals who are resilient, flexible, independent, energetic and who have an excellent work ethic. Applicants committed to a long term career with the centre will be highly regarded. Ideally applicants will have a strong history in child care.


Education and Qualifications

The successful applicant will hold a Diploma or higher, or Certificate 111 in Children’s Services who is enrolled and actively working towards their Diploma. Due to the remoteness of the eylandt, it is desirable for applicants to hold a current first aid, asthma and anaphylactic qualification. Applicants must have or be able to obtain a Working with Children Ochre Card, and a Certified Supervisor certificate.


Only candidates who hold permanent full-time work visas are eligible to apply.


This permanent contract position includes travel assistance, single bedroom accommodation in a shared facility, subsidised rent and electricity and an excellent salary well above award rates.
