School Psychologist – Full time fixed term role (part time considered)

We are seeking a School Psychologist to deliver quality pastoral care within the St Michael’s framework. This role works closely and collaboratively with the other School Psychologists, the School Chaplains and staff in Pastoral Care roles. The successful candidate is expected to develop a full understanding of, and play a significant role in, the welfare, support and pastoral care needs of students predominately in the Senior School (Years 7-12). This is an exciting opportunity to play a significant role in the further development of pastoral care policy within the school and engage in pro-active programs and activities.


You must be aligned with the School’s ethos, vision and values, be curious, excited and invigorated by learning and be a continuous, autonomous learner who makes visible their own learning. You will possess a positive outlook, exceptional interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence with demonstrated ability to build authentic, collaborative relationships.


The successful applicant will:

  • Be a registered psychologist with AHPRA and eligible for APS membership.
  • Demonstrate highly developed counselling skills with capacity to interact with students, parents and staff.
  • Ideally have experience in a secondary school setting.
  • Not be required to administer cognitive assessments.
  • Have a strong focus on proactive programs.
  • Be able to create and present professional development to a range of audiences.
  • Be able to develop and implement a range of preventative programs for students.
  • Display empathy, commitment, resilience and be highly motivated to contribute.
  • Have a strong moral and ethical compass and cultivate credibility & honesty.


This role will commence in January 2014, (or earlier by mutual agreement) on a 12 month fixed term contract. This role is flexible and we will consider applications on either a full-time or part-time basis.
