Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, founded in 1972, is an Independent, Anglican, co-educational, Day and Boarding school for students from Kindergarten through to Year 12.  About 80% of our Year 12 students are university aspirants, with the others seeking entry to Institute of Technology (formerly TAFE) colleges.  Students are principally drawn from the South West region, with others coming from Perth, the Great Southern region, the North West and neighboring countries.  Approximately twenty percent of the Secondary students board at the School.

 

The advertised vacancy is for a full-time, permanent teaching position, effective from 1 January 2014.  As is customary, the first year would be one of probation.  There would be an appraisal during the first year and at regular intervals thereafter.  This position has become available due the incumbent resigning in order to relocate.

 

The applicant should be an energetic teacher who enjoys teaching Mathematics and who is familiar with the use of technology, including graphic calculators, computers and interactive whiteboards in the classroom.  A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline, ideally Mathematics and a teaching qualification, are essential.  Furthermore, a commitment to the use of problem solving techniques in the learning process is desirable.

 

The successful applicant will teach five classes of Mathematics, which will include some Lower Secondary classes (Years 8-10) and some Senior Secondary classes (Years 11 and 12).  The ability to teach Mathematics at the highest level in Year 12 is highly desirable.  Applicants must clearly indicate which Years 11 and 12 Mathematics courses they have taught and their capability to teach any other courses which they have yet to teach. 

 

Applicants should be team players who are willing to work co-operatively with other staff in the Learning Area.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Applicants must be willing to support the Christian ethos and camps programme of the School, and prepared to be actively involved in the co-curricular and pastoral programmes throughout the appointment.  The successful applicant will be a Home Group Teacher within our vertical House system for pastoral care, for which 2.5 periods is given as a paid time allowance.  Information Technology literacy is essential, as the School provides teachers with a laptop computer for use in the Teaching programme and reporting.

 

A 50% remission of Tuition Fees is provided for children of permanent staff who attend the School.

REMUNERATION  

Teacher’s salary scales are available on the Schools website in accordance with the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement. The level of remuneration will be based upon the successful candidates completed years of full time experience.
