A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Speech Pathologist within SDN Beranga in Rooty Hill. This role has flexibility and we can accept applications for either 3 days per week, or full time hours.

 

The role

 

In this role you will bring your passion for working with children to our multi-disciplinary team to provide quality learning and development outcomes for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Your role will be focussed on coaching educators in satellite centres to actively engage and support children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. With a team of dedicated professionals you will work to deliver play-based, family-centred Early Childhood services to support children, in partnership with their families, to enhance their language learning and development outcomes.

 

The program

 

SDN Beranga is a project developed by SDN Child & Family Services and funded by NSW Government.  Based in Rooty Hill, SDN Beranga is a demonstration centre for the most effective and exemplary practice in the field of early childhood education for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The service integrates both early childhood intervention and mainstream early childhood education.

 

About you

 

You will have:

 

  • Recognised university qualifications in Speech Pathology and eligibility for full or associate membership of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Significant experience working with young children with delays or disabilities, specifically children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder in mainstream and inclusive settings.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, the delivery of strengths-based, family centred approaches to early intervention, family services and mainstream settings.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or understanding of coaching, facilitating and bridging approaches to build the capacity of adults working in satellite centres with young children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and skills related to the field of Speech Therapy when using play-based early childhood intervention strategies and assessment for children with Autism in the context of a mainstream long day care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to use strategies that help strengthen educators’ capacity to meet the learning needs of children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder as a satellite centre in their mainstream setting.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a trans-disciplinary and multi-agency environment, with the ability to form effective and positive working relationships.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working within an early childhood education and care setting, within an innovative multi-faceted service model.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and understanding of relevant legislation and guidelines
