Speech Pathologist – SDN Early Childhood Links



A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a part-time Speech Pathologist within our Early Childhood Links program currently located in Crow’s Nest. This role is to work Monday, Thursday & Friday (22.8 hours per week).


The role

In this role you will bring your passion for working with children to our multi-disciplinary team to provide quality language learning and development outcomes for children, from birth to eight, with disability and/or developmental delays. With a team of dedicated professionals you will work closely with parents/carers to identify their goals for their children and their families and support them to achieve these in the setting of their choice, within the service of their choice.  


The program

Early Childhood Links aims to:

  • Build knowledge, skills and capabilities of staff in mainstream settings or community based activities to include children with disability.
  • Facilitate links between families & services so that families can access and participate in community activities.
  • Assist children with disability to access therapy supports.
  • Support transitional pathways for families and children into mainstream settings


About you

You will have:

  • Recognised university qualifications in Speech Pathology and current membership of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Experience working effectively with children with disabilities or development delays in mainstream services and inclusive settings using strengths-based, family centred and activity based approaches.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of play based early childhood intervention practices
  • Demonstrated ability to assess the language abilities and learning needs of children aged birth to 8 years, including those with diagnosed disabilities and from diverse linguistic backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to use strategies that help strengthen parent’s capacity to meet the learning needs of their child.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a trans-disciplinary and multi-agency environment
  • Demonstrated ability and/or understanding of coaching, facilitating and bridging approaches to build the capacity of adults working in centres with young children
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills and problem solving approaches;
