About Aspect: Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) has grown to become amongst the largest educational service provider in the world for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with 8 independent schools operating from 50 locations across NSW & caters to close to 1,000 students.


About the School: Placement for over 143 children with an ASD from 3-16 years of age across Northern Sydney Metropolitan areas.  Operating from Forestville with 5 satellite classes in both DEC and Catholic Schools through the northern suburbs of Sydney.


Classroom staff are supported by a Learning Support Team consisting of the Principal, School Counsellor (Psychologist), Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and executive staff.  Each class teacher is also supported by a Teacher’s Aide.


About the role: A challenging, rewarding & varied role making a difference in the lives of children with an ASD and their families.  Develop your knowledge of ASD’s & specialist education approaches.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop Individual Education Plans (IEP’s)
  • Focus on communication, social skills, sensory integration & positive behaviour support
  • Lead, supervise & train Teacher’s Aides
  • Supervise volunteers & students
  • Prepare students for transition to mainstream class setting & participation in local community


Skills, experience & qualifications:


  • Special Education qualifications that satisfy Board of Studies 
  • Registration with NSW Institute of Teachers
  • Extensive experience working with students with an ASD or intellectual disability
  • Ability to develop & implement educational programs
  • Experience working collaboratively with families & in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience working with technology across curriculum areas
  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills
