The College is seeking to appoint a permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) teacher of Visual Arts to commence Term 1, 2014 to teach visual arts, photography, film and digital media to Years 7 to 12. The teaching element is likely to increase for 2015.


There is the option to add a non-teaching Visual Arts Teachers’ Aide role for the balance of the load i.e. (0.4 FTE) for 2014. This element would be paid at the Teachers’ Aide (school assistant) level.


The Visual Arts department currently teaches the compulsory Visual Arts courses at Years 7 and 8, two different elective Visual Arts courses at Years 9 and 10 and the NSW HSC or IB Visual Arts courses for Years 11 and 12. The department has a tradition of very good results. It is a department of four teaching staff who work in a cohesive and collegial environment. All staff teach across the range of year levels.


The Visual Arts department is well resourced and moves into new facilities in 2014. It endeavours to integrate the practical application of course material into all classrooms, making the subjects both dynamic and contemporary for boys. A key focus of the department’s teaching and learning programs in all year groups is the development of creativity, the discipline required to develop sound techniques for art making, a deep understanding of art history and a spirit of artistic adventure.Classes integrate ICT activities via informal activities and formal assessment tasks and are well resourced with IT hardware, online learning environments and support.
