Position Summary:

 

The Youth Ministry Assistant provides support for the programmes and workings originating from the Faith and Justice Office – including Remar, Catholic Schools Youth Ministry Australia (CSYMA), Outreach programs and Retreats. Specifically, the Youth Ministry Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the staff working in this area and prepares faith and justice related resources for use within the College, contributing to the provision and delivery of a quality Catholic Education at St Patrick’s College.

 

The Youth Ministry Assistant will, over the course of their employment, develop valuable skills that can be utilised in the exploration and encouragement of the faith formation of students and College staff.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with the development and implementation of Formation and Outreach programmes including Remar, CSYMA, St Vincent de Paul and Edmund Rice.
  • Assist with the preparation of whole College & House specific liturgical celebrations.
  • Assist staff in providing opportunities for varied and creative prayer.
  • Following appropriate training, preparation of the weekly prayer sheets for tutor groups, College newsletter and the daily bulletin.
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of programmes for Retreats and various Reflection days.
  • Undertake an array of clerical and administrative tasks to assist with the efficient and effective operation of the Faith and Justice Office.
  • As appropriate, assist the organisation of Remar, CSYMA and Outreach events, occurring outside of normal working hours.
  • Liaise and assist in the development and maintenance of strong mutually beneficial links with the local Catholic Church community.
  • Successfully undertake Certificate II in Business.
  • Other duties as directed. 

 

Key Relationships:

 

Faith and Justice Coordinator, Faith Development Teacher and Remar Coordinator

 

Authority:

 

  • Operating under the direct supervision of the Faith and Justice Coordinator and Faith Development Teacher, the Youth Ministry Assistant works closely with all Faith and Justice Staff responding to their requests in a timely manner and anticipating their requirements.
  • At all times the incumbent is required to perform within the parameters set by the Faith and Justice Coordinator and Faith Development Teacher and comply with College policies and procedures.

Essential requirements of the position

 

  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to the mission of St Patrick’s College as a Catholic school.
  • Strong personal commitment to the observance of faith in all aspects of life.
  • The ability to work effectively with young people in the exploration of their faith formation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong computing skills inc. word processing, database maintenance and spread sheeting.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to function effectively both individually and as a member of a team.
  • A strong work ethic and high levels of initiative and enthusiasm.
