How much are teachers in New South Wales paid?

NSW teacher salary in government schools are dependent on where you are on the teacher pay scale. Your level on the scale is determined by your experience and your seniority.

Teachers in the state will receive a 2.5 per cent pay rise annually between 2017 and 2019.

The salary scale is different depending on whether you were in the role prior to 1 January 2016. Your level of accreditation will determine where you are on each salary scale.

Those on the new scale will range from Band One for a graduate teacher and Band Three for a highly accomplished teacher.

Those on the old scale will range from Step Three to Step 13.

Principal salaries

The principal pay scale, like the main teacher pay scale, is based on the principal classification system, which ranges from Teaching Principal 1 (TP1) or associate principal and increases to P5. Where you are on the classification scale is derived from the funding your school receives.

The new pay scale ranges in 2018 from $115,429 for a TP1 up $177,670 for a P5.
