About Ashcroft Technology Academy

Quotes from our recent Ofsted inspection (February 2015) when the Academy was graded to be "OUTSTANDING":

“Teaching is typically outstanding. Teachers have very high expectations. They enjoy positive and productive relationships with their students. All teachers have a secure grasp of their subject and a very good awareness of examination requirements. “

“Students make rapid progress from their various starting points and achieve outstandingly well. Attainment is exceptionally high across a range of subjects including English, mathematics, science and religious education. “

“Disadvantaged students, disabled students and those with special educational needs achieve highly because they are well known to staff and strongly supported in class. Targeted funding is used effectively to provide additional support for these students. “

“The sixth form is outstanding. Sixth form students achieve well and make excellent progress in their chosen subjects. They are ambitious, determined and highly confident young adults. The leadership of the sixth form is a particular strength. “

“Students’ behaviour in lessons and around the academy is faultless. They work hard and concentrate well in their lessons. Attendance rates are high and punctuality exemplary. Disruptions in lessons are very rare.”

We take the ‘business’ of education very seriously.  We believe that students can only give of their very best and achieve well if they are able to learn in a well-ordered and well-managed environment.  In order to achieve this, we operate a very strict discipline code which promotes positive learning behaviours.  Our teachers and support staff are crucial in managing this environment, which we know they cannot do entirely on their own.  You will be very well-supported in the Academy by the Leadership Group so that you can easily deliver and support in lessons in an environment in which students are not known to disrupt learning.  In fact, the support you will receive from all staff will be second to none.  In departments there is a strong sense of camaraderie, new members of staff are assigned a ‘buddy’ and we operate a breakfast PD schedule, termly PD activities and a whole host of extra-curricular activities and trips – so you will very quickly be able to involve yourself in all aspects of Academy life and get to know colleagues in all subject areas.    Whichever stage of your career you are at, we are looking for people who share our drive and ambition to give our students an outstanding learning experience.
