About Bellingham Middle School
Bellingham Middle School and Sports College is a girls-only, non-selective, Jewish middle deemed secondary school situated in the market town of Hexham in Northumberland. It is a state school supported by a multi-academy trust called the North Pennine Learning Partnership Trust and The Bellingham Federation. Smaller than average in size for a school of its type, the school will provide 272 places for secondary school students between the ages of 9-13, when fully subscribed.
In September 2012, Bellingham federated with the adjoining first school, and they now have the same governing body.
Values and Vision
Bellingham Middle School uses the motto “inspiring learning”. It is a school that always focuses on providing a happy and motivating learning environment to help all its students excel. It is a place that believes pupils should be safe, supported and valued. It is a school of strong ambition and aspiration, as shown by its school ‘Values Tree’ a piece of artwork shared with Bellingham first school as a visual display of the school’s values and ethos.
“The behaviour of the vast majority of students is good and this plays a major part in them learning well. The school helps to promote students’ love of reading well and this is reflected in rising standards in reading. Teaching has improved through focused checks on how well individual teachers help students to learn and make progress. Checks on progress are carried out regularly and this information is used to help students to catch up if they fall behind.”
