About Bexleyheath Academy
Bexleyheath Academy is a member of the London Academies Enterprise Trust, one of five schools in London serving over 5000 pupils. It is proud to be a non-selective school in the grammar heartland of Kent and will stop at nothing to ensure our students achieve the very best of outcomes.
That said, it is important to note that the school has not served its pupils as well as it should have in the past and has developed an accordingly poor reputation within the Borough. It is currently in special measures and there is a great deal of work to be done but the changes will be rapid and the improvements will rank against some of the best in the country. With the appointment of a new Executive Director in March 2019, there has been a complete overhaul of expectations and the school will move rapidly to become the outstanding school that the community deserves.
Prior to joining, the Executive Director was responsible for the turnaround at Harris Academy Battersea. Under his leadership, the school moved from special measures to outstanding and rose from bottom in Wandsworth to become one of the only schools in England to record a Progress 8 score of more than +1 in all three years of the measure. It also won the ‘Evening Standard School of the Year Award’ and was designated as a ‘World-Class’ in 2018. Bexleyheath is at the start of the same journey and is actively seeking passionate and dedicated teachers who will join this fight to ensure that our students go on to lead the very best of lives. We have students from all walks of life and will give each of them, no matter how difficult their start, access to every walk of life.
If you wish to join us at the start of our journey then we promise an experience like no other. It will be hard work and hard fought but the sense of satisfaction that our success will bring will make every ounce of effort worthwhile.
Should you wish to visit us in person then our doors are open to you at any time on any day.
We are proud to be a part of the Academies Enterprise Trust. We have undergone considerable change over the last two years and, bar the name above the door, everything about organisation has changed. Under new leadership and governance, through better financial controls and with a relentless focus on school improvement and curriculum support, we are now well-positioned to drive forward our vision of creating remarkable lives for the students in our care. Our aims as a trust are to be big-hearted and unusually brave as we always push the limits to help our students discover what is possible.
