About Brighton Girls

Why join Brighton Girls?

Brighton Girls’ is an all-through independent school for girls aged 4 to 18 located in Brighton, East Sussex. As specialists in girls’ education, we tailor our teaching to the way girls learn best, and instil in them that there’s no limit to what they can achieve.

As a founding school of the Girls’ Day School Trust, Brighton Girls played a significant role in the history of girls’ education. Our staff benefit from our 140-year history of excellence and innovation, with many opportunities to share ideas and best practice with colleagues across the network. They have access to an extensive central training and professional development programme to complement school-based INSET days, and also funding grants for individual courses of study. Located in the heart of the city of Brighton; we are as eclectic, enterprising, and creative as the city itself.

Brighton Girls is committed to diversity, inclusion and real change: a family where every individual is valued, respected and included. We are working hard to achieve a more inclusive working environment where all staff can flourish and contribute to the school’s success and we actively encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds. Our aim is to have a workforce that represents the vibrancy and diversity of our students and wider society.

What people say about us

“A well-rounded school with strong leadership and wonderful community spirit. Parent of a recent leaver who happily headed off to the senior school said their overall experience of the prep had been ‘phenomenal’.”

“Teachers have a ‘lovely attitude’ and are ‘encouraging’ say parents. ‘So positive’, ‘approachable and supportive’. Students agreed, one sixth former confiding, ‘There’s nothing I feel I couldn’t ask a teacher about here.’ Another added, ‘There’s a good mix between easy and challenging work.’”
