CHS South is part of the Prospere Learning Trust, which believes in working collaboratively to ensure the best outcomes and life chances for students. The Trust operates five secondary mainstream schools, two secondary special schools and one primary and secondary combined special school. The Trust welcomed MEA and MEAC in April 2020, bringing our combined pupil capacity to 4,750.

Welcome to CHS South, our new 11-16 eight-form entry, mixed, comprehensive school opened in conjunction with Chorlton High School. Our school provides an initial 180 places in each Year Group, growing to a full capacity of 1200 as we move to our Permanent site in September 2021. CHS South was opened in September 2018 to allow more young people in our community to access the successful model developed at our oversubscribed sister school, Chorlton High School. This model ensures we provide an education built on the values of offering every young person we encounter the skills needed to craft a creative, happy & successful future. These values are articulated in our school intent below:

We also ensure the young people at CHS South have access to a broad and forward thinking enrichment curriculum. We are well positioned to offer a diverse and engaging sports curriculum through our fantastic relationships with the vast array of sports providers in our community. Furthermore our expertise and understanding of the creative arts, an industry growing faster in our local community than anywhere in the UK outside London, ensures our young people are provided with the opportunities to develop and hone their skills in order to become the next generation of creative trailblazers.

We are committed to recruiting and retaining outstanding practitioners onto our teaching and our support teams to ensure that our students achieve their very best and are led by happy, dedicated and highly skilled staff. We are committed to ensuring ongoing training and personalised development for all staff. We have an exciting calendar of CPD training events; active and motivating sessions focused on teaching and learning, student attainment and staff well-being. We use the Annual Appraisal Cycle to ensure that all professional development is designed to meet the needs of our staff, whatever stage of their career they may be at and whether they are teaching or support staff.
Here at CHS South we recognise that ensuring success for students also means ensuring success for staff and we have worked very hard on our ‘Happiness’ agenda – delivering training for staff and students on ‘how to be happy and resilient’. There are a range of processes and procedures in place, designed to make life easier for our staff; from social events, to Line Management meetings, we recognise that through working as a team and having open lines of communication we can all thrive.

Living in Manchester
Manchester is popular for its diverse culture, lively nightlife, renowned music scene and world class football. The city is home to an exciting retail scene with well-known brands such as Harvey Nichols and Selfridges in the city centre as well as vintage boutiques and independent stores in the Northern Quarter.
The nearby Trafford Centre, one of the largest shopping centres in Europe, has a Lego Land, Sea Life Centre and Chill Factore leisure facilities.
There are also a number of excellent museums and art galleries to visit, including The Whitworth, which has been named museum of the year 2020 and the Museum of Science and Industry, with galleries dedicated to industry, motoring, air travel and railways.
Manchester’s food and drink culture is thriving with both inexpensive options to fine dining and afternoon tea.
For the more outdoors person, the Peak District is less than an hour’s drive away and is great for a day out in the countryside.

Teaching at CHS South is far more than just a job, it is being part of a family that is invested in supporting the community.
