About Churnet View Middle School
Churnet View Middle School is a mixed middle school for children aged 9-13, located in Leek, Staffordshire. The school is part of a federation that shares a governing body and the leadership of an executive headteacher. Part of the Leek Education Partnership of ten local schools, Churney View has applied to become an academy.
A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered both before and after school as a reflection of the view that learning outside the classroom plays an essential part in developing leadership and life skills as well as boosting confidence and self-esteem.
Existing facilities are being developed to include a working farm, designed to enhance the curriculum for students by creating additional learning opportunities which are more practical and exciting.
“The Den” is a facility used by students, teachers and support staff before, during and after school for clubs, withdrawal groups and one-to-one tuition.

Values and vision
Churnet View Middle School promotes six core values. These values centre on respect for each other and the environment; pride in the school and local community; high aspirations; communication and collaboration; a drive to take every opportunity to develop reading, writing and numeracy; and a commitment to become lifelong learners.
Every effort is made to foster an increased awareness of environmental issues and to develop in every student caring and responsible attitudes towards each other and the local community.
“All groups of students make good and sometimes outstanding progress from their low starting points. They are excited by their learning and are keen to do well.”
