Churston Ferrers Grammar School

Churston Ferrers Grammar School is one of only two co-educational grammar schools in the South West of England. It has a long standing reputation for combining academic excellence with outstanding personal development and pastoral care.

We believe that in a great school, academic excellence and personal development go together. Students who join Churston enjoy the academic rigour of a selective education, but they also enjoy the additional challenges offered by our extensive enrichment programme. We are fortunate to educate some of the most academically able students in the region. However if students leave Churston at the age of eighteen with a set of outstanding examination results but are lacking the self-esteem, resilience and team work skills necessary to succeed in life then I believe we have failed them.

The journey through secondary school is highly rewarding, yet there will be times when additional support is needed. We take great pride in the quality of our pastoral care because we understand that happy students are successful students. This requires high standards of behaviour and respect for all members of the school community. Strong and supportive relationships form the bedrock of the school's success. All staff and students are actively encouraged to build self-esteem and work towards the school motto of learning to create a better world.
