About Crispin School
Crispin School is an Academy providing comprehensive education for students aged 11-16 from Street and across mid-Somerset. It is an oversubscribed school and is highly regarded both for its academic achievements and for the individual care it provides for children. It is also a very happy school and parents know that if their children come here they will be joining a strong, caring community where everyone can be sure of support and encouragement at all times.
I am pleased to say that our achievements are recognised by Ofsted who have described us as a good school in all regard. We strive to continually improve the quality of education we provide and, consequently, the next few years will bring further improvements.
We currently have 1016 students on roll.
Our students' academic progress is very important to us and we are pleased that our examination results continue to improve year on year. We have every reason to be proud of the academic achievements of our pupils but we also emphasise and encourage achievement in other areas like sport, music, drama, charity work and work in the community.
Street is a small town with approximately 12,000 people but thanks to the generosity of local benefactors it has many facilities and amenities which are not usually found in a place of its size.
Our buildings are pleasant and well maintained. Specialist facilities include a newly refurbished science block, seven design technology rooms (including an ICT suite), five additional ICT rooms, two music rooms, a drama studio, extensive sports facilities and a number of general- purpose classrooms. Each is equipped with up-to-date educational technology and provides an attractive learning environment for students.
Crispin places great emphasis on involving its students in as many aspects of the life of the school as possible. Students are involved, for example, in interviews for staff, and are represented on many committees. Students are trained as Peer Mediators to support others and as Peer Mentors to help younger pupils with their learning.
We have a link partner school in Masana, Kenya, which involves annual student and teacher exchanges as well as a developing link with Yueyang Foreign Languages School in China.
Crispin has been committed to teacher training for some time and hosts the Mid Somerset Consortium.
Above all, Crispin is a warm and welcoming school where excellent teaching is valued and good relationships between staff and students cherished.
