Oxfordshire, United Kingdom
Founded in 1977, d'Overbroeck's is a co-educational independent school for students from age 11 through to the Sixth Form. The school is based in central and north Oxford. Current student numbers stand at around 485.
d’Overbroeck’s consists of three sections:
• Years 7-11: at our Leckford Place site. Day pupils only in this age range; around 180 students.
• The Sixth Form: based in our brand new Sixth Form site at 333 Banbury Road. Around 270 students, day and boarding.
• The International Section: based on Banbury Road; around 40 international students who follow a one-year IGCSE programme which prepares them for entry into a sixth form, either at d'Overbroeck's or at another school; mostly boarders.
All in all, this is a busy and happy educational environment in which staff and students enjoy positive relationships based on mutual respect and a shared sense of purpose. As our most recent ISI inspection report puts it:
'The excellent quality of relationships throughout the school is a defining characteristic of d'Overbroeck's. It is outstandingly successful in establishing a relaxed, friendly community based on mutual respect and courtesy. With a light touch approach, staff maintain a deft balance between informality and clear behavioural expectations. As a result, students mature rapidly, learning to accept responsibility for themselves and for their actions.' (ISI inspection report, October 2013)
d'Overbroeck's is affiliated to the ISC (Independent Schools Council) and is in membership of the Society of Heads of independent schools.
