About Dubai English Speaking College (DESC)

About Us

Dubai English Speaking College (DESC) is a UK curriculum, inclusive, not-for-profit secondary school based in a spacious, modern campus in Academic City, Dubai.   DESC is the sister school of Dubai English Speaking School (DESS) which is our primary school located in Oud Metha and the first British school in Dubai, founded in 1963.

DESC opened in 2005 and has over 1,600 students. We enjoy an excellent reputation and are one of the few not-for-profit British curriculum schools in the region with a long and proud history in Dubai.

We offer a full range of GCSE’s, A levels, BTEC National Diplomas and a Foundation Level pathway that offers a mix of Level 2 courses. We are highly regarded, as exemplified by Outstanding ratings from both the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau and the Council of British International Schools.  Our results demonstrate outstanding levels of progress and achievement among our students.

Our aim is to produce well-rounded, balanced young people who strive to achieve their potential; and in doing so they are encouraged to display the best of human traits in their interaction with others. Character, integrity and respect for others are important to us at DESC, be that in the classroom or on the sports field.

Academic success is important, but we believe in the development of creative thinkers, problem solvers and students who know how to learn in an environment of mutual respect, enthusiasm and commitment. The students are given a wide range of opportunities to have as many varied learning experiences as possible, in order that the whole person is developed.  We also provide a wide range of extracurricular opportunities.

DESC aims to create independent, confident and resilient learners who respond to challenges and aspire to reach their full potential. Our excellent standards in teaching and learning are evidence of the commitment of all our highly dedicated staff to achieving the best standards in all areas of school life for our students.

DESC is a member of the Association of British Schools Overseas (BSO) and Council of British International Schools (COBIS) which have also rated DESC as an “Outstanding’’ provider of education.
