About Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong
Founded in August 2003, with the opening of its Dulwich College Shanghai Kindergarten campus (DUCKS) initially catering for 18 children, Dulwich College Shanghai has rapidly expanded to meet demands for providing a quality education to expatriate children. It currently retains an enrolment of over 1,500 students from over 40 countries across each of its three schools; DUCKS, Junior School and Senior School. Catering for students aged 2 - 18 years old, the College follows an enhanced English National Curriculum from Toddler to Year 13, offering the IGCSE in Years 10-11 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Years 12 and 13. The College is co-educational and non-denominational committed to the highest standards of excellence academically, in the performing arts and on the sporting field. The College educational philosophy places equal emphasis on a student's intellectual and personal development.
The College has spacious classrooms and extensive state-of-the-art shared facilities. DUCKS, a purpose-built kindergarten is located on a separate campus and caters for children from Toddler to Year 2. The campus features bright, cheerful classrooms, ICT laboratories, a soft playroom and custom-built dining hall, surrounded by extensive playgrounds, a running track and an outdoor games area.
The Main Campus, housing separate Junior and Senior Schools, is located close by. The Junior School is purpose built to meet the needs of primary aged students, Years 3 - 6. The Senior School facilities include departmental suites for English, maths, science, humanities, art and design, and languages. Whole College facilities comprise a 350-seater Professional Standard Performance Theatre, two large sports halls, a gymnasium, dance room, weights room and an extensive music area, which includes music recital and practice rooms.
The College has two full-size football and rugby pitches plus a cricket oval adjacent to the school, with tennis, swimming and other sports provided for at a nearby sports complex. There are three separate well-stocked libraries and excellent ICT facilities in each of the schools. In September 2007 the College moved to 'Apple' as it's preferred educational ICT provider, with Apple laptops provided for all staff. Students currently have access to ICT laboratories and sets of mobile Apple laptops, and the Senior School, Years 7 - 13, is a one-to-one laptop learning environment.
Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong's philosophy is grounded in close partnership with our founding school in London, Dulwich College which was established in 1619, thus able to draw on a 400-year history of curriculum development, teaching methodology and pastoral care for its students. Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong is an academically - selective school. All prospective students must meet pre-determined standards and are required to sit an entrance examination prior to entering Year 3 upwards.
The popular co-curricular programme underpins and enhances a broad educational experience. Students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of activities at the College, both inside and outside the classroom such as football, rugby, netball, badminton, ju-jitsu, table tennis, yoga, rock bands, music tuition, film club, the International Award, mock United Nations, art appreciation, calligraphy and creative writing. Sports teams also compete in the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS) and the China International Schools Sports Association (CISSA).
Dulwich College Shanghai is located in the easily accessible green suburb of Jinqiao in Pudong New Area, 30 minutes by road or 20 minutes by subway from downtown Shanghai.
