About Humphry Davy School
Humphry Davy School has a long-standing well-deserved reputation for its caring approach and an ethos which encourages, supports and develops students of all abilities – from those with specific learning difficulties right through to the most able, gifted and talented.
We are a Co-operative Trust School and a member of the Penwith Educational Trust (PET). Our Vision statement encapsulates what our school is about. It provides a clear direction for the school whilst reminding us of our core values when decision-making. Success comes from never lowering our high expectations and ensuring everyone shares our core values in each and every moment of every day. This is only achievable by working in partnership with our parents as it is together that we enable our students to flourish into what they each have the potential to be.
The contribution of the local community is very important to us all and as a school, we are always interested in the views of our parents and the local community. We are committed to ensuring our school is a valued part of the Penzance community and continues to provide the highest educational standards of which we can all be proud.
Humphry Davy School’s vision is to be an inspiring and vibrant place for learning, which enriches, and is a valued part of, the Penzance community. It aims to be a place which: celebrates individuality; nurtures a true sense of belonging; aspires to excellence in everything its does; seeks to maximise the life chances of all its young people.
Humphry Davy School seeks to unlock the talent and enterprise of all its young people. It promotes high achievement and learning for life by working with every individual to: value, trust and respect each member of the community and work together cooperatively; develop their full academic, creative, physical and personal potential, regardless of background and overcoming any barriers to learning; develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to lead successful and happy lives; become independent, confident, considerate and responsible young people who make a positive contribution to society.
“Humphry Davy School is a good school. Outstanding links with the local community and with parents and carers underpin its success in promoting students’ engagement with learning. Good teaching and the improved curriculum ensure students’ progress and their learning in lessons are good. At the heart of the school’s improvement is the drive and dedication of the headteacher and the support he receives from senior leaders.”
