About Hurstpierpoint College

Hurstpierpoint College was founded in 1849 as the second of Nathaniel Woodard's schools. Its 140 acre campus lies in a splendid rural location close to the South Downs, but is well served by major roads, especially the M23.   Easy access to London and to other cultural centres is an advantage.

The College is a member of the Woodard Corporation.  Woodard Schools have a firm conviction that education is best delivered within a community whose life, thoughts and actions are shaped by Christian belief and practice.  They are schools within the catholic tradition as it is found within the Church of England although they are not exclusive and welcome those of other faiths, perceptions and traditions.

The College comprises a Senior School, Preparatory School and Pre-Preparatory School.  There are some 740 pupils in the Senior School and 295 in the Prep School. The Pre-Prep School has a further 70 pupils. Approximately half the pupils in the Senior School are boarders (full, weekly or flexi). Following the introduction of girls into the Prep School in 1993 and into the Senior School in 1995, the entire College is now fully co-educational.  Half  of pupils are girls.
