About Meadowcroft School

Meadowcroft School is a unique special educational needs provision dedicated to ensuring successful outcomes for the most reluctant & troubled learners. The dedicated staff team work tirelessly with pupils who arrive with a distorted view of education and life.

At the Bar Lane site, one-to-one social and emotional support in the classroom and outdoor educational initiatives build pupils’ trust and help unlock their potential to a happy, meaningful and successful adult life.

At The Gallery, small class sizes at the specialist primary provision work in conjunction with the dedicated unit for pupils with more complex needs. As well as its classrooms, pupils are offered appropriate practical life skill lessons in a simulated home setting.

Pupils who secure a place at Meadowcroft arrive with dysfunctional and unsettled backgrounds. Headteacher Lynette Edwards and her close-knit staff team are unwavering in their determination to find the best possible educational outcome for each and every one of them.

What people say about us

“I have different staff for different things and I make them into my little family and when I’m not around school I feel like something’s missing.”

- Pupil

“As a parent of a child who has issues being in mainstream school, one of my worries was his future. Lynette’s commitment to the future of the kids at Meadowcroft is phenomenal and was so apparent even on our first visit. We made our decision right there and then; George has loved the place ever since!”

- Parent

“The staff team are patient, good listeners, friendly and kind. They helped me apply for colleges and prepare for my interviews to get onto the course I wanted to do.”

- Pupil

“I’m privileged to be part of a team who are so passionate to ensure students, regardless of their background are able to have access to a personalised learning experience which will serve them later in their lives so that they can make a valuable contribution to the society in which we live.”

- Deputy Headteacher

“Meadowcroft School has helped to give my son opportunities and the future he deserves, and given me the wonderful son I always knew I had. He just needed to be understood.”

- Parent

“The school know that I want to go into landscaping when I’m older so they have been able to put me on a Land Based Studies course. I would never believe that that I could be getting a Gold Award and a chance to go to Buckingham Palace. It’s really good to be in a place where people understand me.”

- Pupil

“Working at this school is amazing as I am part of a wonderful team who are committed to working with our students. The dedication to making a positive difference and unlocking the potential of every pupil is staggering and the job satisfaction is immeasurable.”

- Headteacher

“Since Luke has been at Meadowcroft, his life and our lives have changed massively; He’s a completely different person. It’s the first time he’s been in a school that fully understands him. The communication between the school and home is first class. I know that staff at Meadowcroft have Luke’s interests at heart – It’s just a brilliant place!”
