Miras Almaty International School was founded in 1999 under the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan. Miras Almaty International School represents an innovative school model in the Republic of Kazakhstan, implementing a new pedagogical technology and teaching methods that integrate the national standards and the philosophy and teaching approaches of the International Baccalaureate. Currently, Miras International School provides continuous education to students aged 3 to 18 in three languages of instruction: Kazakh, English and Russian and the language of communication in school is English. Miras will open a French school section in fall 2017.

The campus facilities include modern science and computer laboratories, areas specially designated for art, music, drama and dance. The school has a greenhouse for the curriculum to focus on ecology and conservation of resources. Two libraries with class-sized computer research stations are provided, along with 3 computer labs, 4 class laptop carts, Wi-Fi, a swimming pool, tennis courts, all season football field and track, two gyms, a work-out room and climbing wall.
