About Nelson and Colne College
Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms.
Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.

Nelson and Colne College’s overarching vision is summed up in its commitment to “expanding horizons; excelling together; and always learning". It promises to: put people at its centre; take care to understand each other’s individual qualities and needs; ensure that every single member of the college knows they matter; and celebrate individuality and recognise the strength of diversity.
The college also promotes a “green” ethos among its students and staff, setting up a sustainability group to raise awareness of environmental issues. The whole college has signed up to challenging goals to reduce its carbon footprint.
