We recognise that children learn in different ways, that they learn best when their emotions are engaged and that learning should be fun, creative and relevant. Our curriculum provides a wealth of stimulating learning opportunities that are underpinned by key basic skills - truly a winning formula and a clear pathway to future success. 

Our school enjoys being at the heart of the community, where every child matters. We share the responsibility with parents and carers for teaching our children and preparing them for the future. We believe that all children at Poppleton Ousebank are special: no two are the same - they are all unique and individual. Like parents, we want the very best for them.

We pride ourselves on working together with everyone involved with our school. Our School Council empowers children of all ages, encouraging them to voice their ideas and opinions. They meet regularly with members of the school’s Leadership Team and even have a column on the school’s newsletter. We have a thriving group of parents (Friends) who dedicate their spare time to organising successful fund raising events to provide additional resources for the pupils in school.

We have a dynamic Governing Body who work in partnership with the Headteacher and Leadership Team to sculpture and develop the school - making it the very best that it can be.
