Southlands International School
About Southlands International School
Founded in 1976, Southlands International School is one of the oldest and only truly international school in the south of Rome. Southlands offers six key programmes for students between the ages of 3 and 18 years old. The school is non-denominational and welcomes pupils from all cultures and backgrounds. Children from over thirty-five countries attend the school.
Southlands is an International Baccalaureate World School authorised to offer the IB Diploma Programme in the senior school.
The whole school is fully aligned with the IB ethos. This and methodology extends far beyond examination success and its basic principle is to support the development of lifelong learners and global leaders in a caring and supportive capacity.
The Early Years Foundation programme for England is offered for 3 and 4 year olds. From Year 1 to Year 9 (5-13 years old), they follow the National Curriculum for England. The pre-IB programme is the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). Southlands is a recognised examination centre for Edexcel, which is the largest examination board of its kind in England.
The school is set in five acres of parkland, which include gardens, orchards, playgrounds and sports fields. This space allows students to enjoy the outdoor classroom and learn about the environment, insects, flowers and birds.
Southlands is a proud member of the NACE Schools group. NACE owns and operates more than 51 international schools in Europe and beyond. It is one of the four largest private school groups in the world with an international presence and is the largest of its kind.
Being a member of the NACE group brings many benefits to our students, teachers and parents. The NACE calendar of exciting extra-curricular events allows our students to participate in sporting, cultural and academic activities.
