Location
When I first joined The BSN, I didn’t plan or expect to be here nine years later! This a reflection of how much I have and continue to enjoy working for the organisation. There have been lots of opportunities for extra responsibilities and I have worked in a variety of leadership roles. With this I have been challenged constantly and been able to innovate and lead projects that have had a direct impact on learning and teaching.

Visiting the school for the interview was daunting but was brilliant to get a feel for the school, staff, children and The Hague as a place. A second settling in visit with my whole family helped me to integrate into the school and prepare our family for the move before the September start. The school and working environment has a warm community feel to it Relocation can be stressful and the school were always there to support and answer my numerous questions.

Before the move, HR were a constant source of support answering my many questions and putting us at ease. We then had the BSN Big Weekend, which was organized to help us get a feel for the Hague and Leiden, as well as helping with some more practical aspects of moving to the Netherlands, such as using public transport. There were numerous opportunities to get to know other new starters and also a chance for our partners and families to get to meet each other, before actually starting work, which is a big plus when moving to the new country.
