About The Polesworth School
The Polesworth School is encapsulated by the words "Ensuring Excellence". Our values, beliefs, expectations and standards underpin how we work with the young people in our care and the community we serve.
We value three main types of achievement for our students and our vision is that they have the opportunities to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
Achievement - Academic:
We believe all young people have the potential to acheive great things. Intelligence can be developed regardless of emotional, academic and social background with quality first teaching and bespoke academic and pastoral support.
Achievement - Personal:
All students achieve things they should be proud of every single day outside the planned curriculum in addition to academic success. We have the vital role in ensuring individuals develop their own talents and interests and we have a responsibility to instil in them a sense of pride about what they can do.
Achievement - Social:
Excellent relationships for learning are a prerequisite for all other achievements. Relationships that engender mutual respect between young people and adults will ensure learning can be fun in a disciplined and caring environment where the highest expectations of behaviour, courtesy, manners and respect are the norm.
Our values extend to how we challenge, support and work with each other. All staff play a crucial role in the education of young people. In the same way that we have a duty of care to them we also have a duty of care to each other and have regard for each other's professional learning, practice and collaboration. All staff have clarity and certainty about the direction our school is taking and all staff contribute to that vision. Staff cooperate with each other and are not in competition with each other:- they are part of a team that ensures Polesworth strengthens its position as a fantastic school.
Students’ behaviour in lessons and their attitudes to learning are exemplary. They are excited by their learning and very keen to do well and to contribute their ideas- Ofsted 2015
The academy is a harmonious and caring community. Despite its size, students are well known as individuals and are greeted by name by adults who lead by example, resulting in evident warmth and mutual respect between teachers and students. Teachers work as a close team, sharing leaders’ vision of continually improving students’ achievement and wellbeing.- Ofsted 2015
