The Victory Academy is a non-selective state school for boys and girls aged 11-18. Situated in Chatham, Kent, it is a non-denominational school with 850 pupils, 150 of whom are in the sixth form. The school has hugely grown in popularity in recent months, with the Y7 PAN more than doubling for September 2018.
The school is led by Principal Ms Mandy Gage, who is an experienced Headteacher and has driven the school from strength to strength since joining the leadership team in 2014.
The school is set in a modern state-of-the-art building encompassing a beautiful quad area in the centre, surrounded by vast grounds, including a 3G pitch, woodlands and fields.

Values and vision
The Victory Academy's core values are: Respect, Pride and Belief, with the motto of "Aspire and Endeavour to achieve our Personal Best". The academy creates an environment in which students and staff can explore and express themselves. It offers music scholarships, giving children access to free music lessons, as well as providing a free breakfast available to all students.
Ofsted has recognised our school as a “Good” school (26-27 September 2017). Their report found that our school “Achievement has risen over the last three years..”,”Teachers show secure subject knowledge and use questions to encourage pupils to explain their thinking. A focus on literacy across all subjects helps pupils express their ideas accurately.”,”…staff strongly support the leaders’ vision to promote the achievement and well-being of every pupil. Staff and pupils are proud of the school” and “Safeguarding is a real strength of the school.”
The Victory Academy is officially recognised as a “Thinking School” by the University of Exeter and has also been awarded the prestigious Artsmark Platinum Award by the Arts Council England.
The Academy is focused on providing an education for all. Our belief is that each person is unique – every member of our community has gifts and talents that we seek to grow and channel.
The Victory Academy has established links with The Historic Chatham Dockyard, The Royal Opera House Bridge and the Sea Cadets, aiming to raise the profile of the Academy within the local community. The Principal, Mandy Gage, also chairs the Local Cultural and Education Partnership (LCEP) Steering Group in Medway. The Academy prides itself as being a cultural champion in giving back to the local community and has strong links with Medway Foodbank and The Magpie Centre. The students and staff at the school proudly use their ‘Victory Spirit’ to raise funds for charities that support local families.
The Academy offers a broad and balanced curriculum geared towards ensuring that pupils will become dynamic members of society when they leave either to further their education or start their chosen career.
As a member of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust, the school is at the forefront of pedagogic practice. It places cognitive approaches at the heart of its provision and anticipates being formally accredited as a Thinking School by the University of Exeter in the summer of 2016. Holcombe Grammar works closely with all of the Trust’s schools. All of our schools, both secondary and primary work cohesively together across key stages and departments to share best practice.
As part of The Thinking Schools Academy Trust, we benefit from working cohesively as a family of schools for the benefit of our children, and for the adults who work here too. The Trust supports with planning, trips, events, CPD and much more to ensure that all of our teachers are fully supported, enabling them to ensure that they can deliver the best learning that we can offer. Our mission is to “transform life chances”; at The Thinking Schools Academy Trust we believe education has the power to change lives and children only have one chance to get this right.
To ensure all our academies focus on our mission school leaders translated our mission to core values that would be demonstrated and evident in all our Academies:
Child First, Aspire, Challenge, Achieve
