During these formative years, particular emphasis is placed upon personal, social and emotional development to promote self-confidence and natural curiosity. All the key learning areas are covered in both years and in addition there are projects on the seasons, festivals and other important occasions integrated into work to increase children’s knowledge of themselves and the world around them.
Primary School, for students age 5-11
Learning and developing English and English literacy is an important focus in our Primary programme, but there is also a focus upon learning science, history, geography and other subjects through integrated projects, which enable students to learn about their community and the world. Students also receive instruction in mathematics, ICT (Information and Communication Technology), Mandarin Chinese, art, music and sports (Physical Education).
Secondary School, for students age 11-18
TRIS prepares students for British-based international examinations and has a strong record in enabling students to gain entrance to universities worldwide, especially in the United Kingdom, Australia, Korea and Japan. The school offers two distinct programmes for students aged 16-18, a specialised A-level program which is suitable for students wanting to study in the UK or US, and also a broad Diploma program which has been especially popular among students wishing to study at East Asian universities. TRIS has experienced academic staff able to provide advice and support to students with university applications.
Some of our students do not speak English when they first enrol. We provide dedicated programs for non-English speaking students, whether they are 3 years old or 18 years old, which help them to learn English quickly and thereafter fit into our mainstream programmes.
TRIS has a strong activities programme, which includes art, drama and music clubs, and additional language activities. The school runs many sports teams which compete against each other and against other international schools. Students are also given the opportunity to join trips to museums, historical sites, and other locations to enhance their curriculum learning.
