About West Ashton Church of England (Aided) Primary School
Overlooking the beautiful west Wiltshire countryside and the county town of Trowbridge, West Ashton Church of England School is a thriving academy, within the Acorn Education Trust. The school is situated in the charming village of West Ashton just off the A350 giving excellent access to Bath, Chippenham, Swindon and the M4 motorway. The original 1846 building still forms the heart of our now larger school and a continuing link with our long history, while the church just across the field is a daily reminder of our role as a church school at the heart of the community.
Our large school hall, playground and school field provide great space for indoor and outdoor PE and we are able to provide a variety of additional sporting activities. Our Foundation Stage outside classroom and school field give us plenty of space for outdoor learning, while our quiet area and garden of reflection provide opportunities for more contemplative learning and development.
Being quite central, our school attracts children from all the surrounding villages and towns. We currently have 95 pupils in Foundation Stage 2, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The school is at the heart of its extended community and we are proud of our local and wider links; as a Church of England School, we and our parent Trust work closely with the Diocese of Salisbury.
Children are taught in four classes and are supported by Teaching Assistants:
Shooting Stars Foundation
Explorers YR1/YR2
Discoverer YR3/YR4
Voyagers YR5/YR6
It has been part of the Acorn Education Trust since 2017 which has allowed the school to provide an all-inclusive inspiring curriculum supported by extra-curricular activities. We have high expectations of teaching, learning and behaviour enabling each child to grow and develop as individuals. The enthusiastic and nurturing team of staff and governors is committed to providing the best possible education and support for all pupils.
West Ashton CofE Primary School and the Acorn Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Services) check will be required for the successful candidate. We are an equal opportunities employer.
