About Windrose Academy
Windrose Academy is an independent all-through school for pupils of mixed gender aged between 3 and 17. The school was opened in 2013 by the Global Education Management Systems (GEMS) group and is located in Katameya, Cairo in Egypt. GEMS operates more than 250 schools in 13 different countries.
The curriculum offered at Windrose Academy is the UK Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) curriculum, and the school also follows the Egyptian Ministry of Education requirements with regards to Arabic language and social/religious studies. Students work towards IGCSE qualifications.
Values and vision
Windrose Academy has what it describes as a very student centred approach to teaching, with all decision making regarding school development, academic achievement and community made with the interests of the students at the centre in order to draw the best from all who attend the school.
The school champions diversity and mutual respect between all members of its community and promotes friendship, understanding and tolerance among pupils, staff and parents alike. Team spirit is nurtured in pupils through the use of collaborative teaching methods and the encouragement of positive interaction in the Windrose community.
Students are encouraged to become active participants in the learning and teaching process. The school believes this to be key to them fulfilling their potential. Pupils are also encouraged to express themselves and communicate openly, with the aim being to develop them into critical thinking individuals.
